Dunham Massey

Yesterday, the 11, we went went to Dunham Massey.
Dunham Massey is a "Georgian house set in a wooded deer park on the fringe of Manchester."

When we got there, went into the garden.

There was a table with a few different things on it, the first was a game, a bit like checkers.

There is 13 hens and 1 hawk. The aim of the game is for the hens to corner the hawk and the hawk to eat the hens. It seems that the hawk will mostly win.

The next thing was a box of feathers and information on birds. What you had to do was match the feather to the bird.

The next was a riddle, the merchants riddle, you had to to get the owl, the grain, the duck and the rabbit across the river.
You had to take the items across the river, you had to take 2 items at a time, but you couldn't return with an empty boat, you couldn't leave the grain with the rabbit or the duck, and you couldn't leave the owl with the duck or the rabbit.
See if you can work this out!
The Peregrine Falcon. ------->

Then there was a bird show.

They had three different birds I can't remember what the first bird was, the second was a eagle owl, and the third was a Peregrine Falcon.

After the bird show, we went inside the house.

The first thing we saw was the center courtyard, it was pretty cool.

And in the water fountain in the center of the courtyard, was a family of ducks!

Then we had a little explore around the house, we saw some bed pans, a really big pool table.

Then we went in to one of the rooms, where there was a band playing.

The band played music from olden times, and they played olden day instrument.

After that we went into one of the bedrooms, it was very dark (though the curtains were shut)

After that we went into another room were running a "dress like like a Tudor"

So they dressed me up like a knight and Jake up like my squire. Then they dressed the girls up like some English girls.

Then they took us down to take a photo.

After that we went to have a look at the kitchen and the dairy.

Then we went home.
