Dunham Massey

Yesterday, the 11, we went went to Dunham Massey.
Dunham Massey is a "Georgian house set in a wooded deer park on the fringe of Manchester."

When we got there, went into the garden.

There was a table with a few different things on it, the first was a game, a bit like checkers.

There is 13 hens and 1 hawk. The aim of the game is for the hens to corner the hawk and the hawk to eat the hens. It seems that the hawk will mostly win.

The next thing was a box of feathers and information on birds. What you had to do was match the feather to the bird.

The next was a riddle, the merchants riddle, you had to to get the owl, the grain, the duck and the rabbit across the river.
You had to take the items across the river, you had to take 2 items at a time, but you couldn't return with an empty boat, you couldn't leave the grain with the rabbit or the duck, and you couldn't leave the owl with the duck or the rabbit.
See if you can work this out!
The Peregrine Falcon. ------->

Then there was a bird show.

They had three different birds I can't remember what the first bird was, the second was a eagle owl, and the third was a Peregrine Falcon.

After the bird show, we went inside the house.

The first thing we saw was the center courtyard, it was pretty cool.

And in the water fountain in the center of the courtyard, was a family of ducks!

Then we had a little explore around the house, we saw some bed pans, a really big pool table.

Then we went in to one of the rooms, where there was a band playing.

The band played music from olden times, and they played olden day instrument.

After that we went into one of the bedrooms, it was very dark (though the curtains were shut)

After that we went into another room were running a "dress like like a Tudor"

So they dressed me up like a knight and Jake up like my squire. Then they dressed the girls up like some English girls.

Then they took us down to take a photo.

After that we went to have a look at the kitchen and the dairy.

Then we went home.

Anglesey 3-5/5/08

3/5/08

I have a friend called Jono, and he invited me to come on holidays to Anglesey with him.

His mum has a static caravan there.

So we left on Friday night, and arrived about 11pm.

The following morning, we had breakfast, and then did some gardening .

Then we went to the Car Boot sale.

After that, we had lunch and went to the beach.

The first beach we went to was in Moelfre, and it was a rock beach.

Jonathan and I put our wet suits on and wandered into the water.

It was ffrreezzing!

After we couldn't bear it no longer, we went and did some rock climbing.

After that we went to a beach in Benllech.

On this beach we played with their dog Ollie.

When we got home we just sat around untill dinner and then we went to bed.

The Camp Site

4/5/08

On the next day, we did a bit more gardening, then we wen and played pool, and played at the playground.

We also watched the Matrix.

Later on in the afternoon, Jono's friend called Sam, and his family of 3 came and stayed with us.

We then went to Benllech with them.

After that we had dinner and went to sleep.

Benllech

5/5/08

Today was the last day, we woke up, had breakfast, and went to another car boot sale.

After that we played pool and lounged around the caravan.

In the afternoon, we went to Benllech, and there was sea fog everywhere!

We decided to stay and we build a dam to stop a water flow.

Then we went to Moelfre (where it was not much better) and did some rock climbing.

When we got home, we packed are gear up, had dinner, and left back for Manchester around 7pm.

When I got back, it was about 10, so I had a quick shower, and went to bed.Moelfre

The Carrs

I thought I'd tell you about the park that we usually go to.

It has a see saw that goes up and down, left and right, and tilts over.

Then there is flying fox.

Then a roundabout.

A swing, a slide.

There is a little rock climbing wall at one of the slides.

50 meters away from the park, there is a skate park, a goal, and a basketball net.

And that is just about it.

Meeting some Rellies

On Monday the 28, we went to a retirement village where my great aunt and great nan lived.

We were going there to drop Granddad there, (he is going to live there for the next week) we were also going to meet the rellies.

So Granddad told dad the way, (which I thought was pretty good seeing that he doesn't come over very often) and when we arrived, we met our great nan, she then showed us the way to the lounge where we waited a bit for my great auntie Val (lets call her val for short).

When val arrived, she made us a cuppa tea, and we sat and talked.

I think we stayed there for a couple of hours.

After that we left granddad there.

When we got home, I missed granddad already.

Luckily, he will come back for a week before he leaves.

Granddad Arrives

On the 23rd, my Granddad (on my mothers side) arrived from Aus!

He was a bit jet lagged, but he didn't go to bed until normal time.

He slept in my room, so i slept on a air mattress in the office.

We've had a good time with him so far, playing cards, and going to the park.

On Monday, we are going to drop him off at a nursing home where his mother and sister live.

New Brighton

On the 21st of April, we went to New Brighton for Mum's B'day.

We arrived at lunch time and so we found a place to have lunch.

After lunch we had a walk around New Brighton, we could see the ocean, and we there was a beach!

We were going to go to Fort Perch Rock, but it wasn't open.

In all, I think that mum enjoyed her B'day, and I enjoyed it too!

Sunday Reading

At the Sunday night service yesterday, i did a reading, it went well, my lines are in red.

Matthew 5

The Beatitudes

1Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, 2and he began to teach them saying:
3"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
5Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
6Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
7Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
8Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
9Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

England

Hey everyone.

We made it to England safe and sound, and we got a work out at the same time! (We ran a few kms through Bangkok airport at midnight caring luggage!)

When we arrived in our new house, we had some lunch, some tea, and then I went to bed at 3pm in the afternoon.

I then woke up at 2:30 in the morning, had breakfast, and waited for everyone to wake up!

That day, Dad, Kiyana and I went to a Tesco, (like Woolworth's or Coles) were we brought some groceries, and a printer!

The next day, Monday, we went down to the main shop area in Wilmslow.

There, dad and mum got a bank account, and we brought some other stuff.

On Tuesday, we basically lazed around the house, though we did do some school work!

So yeah, every things well, and I will keep you posted!

Ps. I can't post any photos, because we have only 3 gigs of memory.

So when we get our own house and Internet, i will be able to put some photos on!

We've made it...... well, almost!

Hi guys, if you read my previous post, you would of saw are plan, well everything changed!

We ended up leaving Koh Samui at 9.55 p.m., that flight was delayed 4 hours!

We then arrived at Bangkok airport, and we then spend the whole time running around trying to make it to the next flight.

We made, thankfully, we then were delayed another 50 minutes.

The flight to london was very long, with no kid movies! =-(

I probably slept half of it, but the other half was still long.

We finally touched down in london, where we rushed again to get to our manchester flight, when we found out it had been boarded, and we had missed it!

So here I am, sitting in the lounge, waiting for our flight.

I will post when we arrive in Wilmslow, Cheshire.

Till then, tata!

The Flight Plan

This was posted at Koh Samui airport.

Today we fly to england, this is the plan, we check in at Koh Samui Airport at 5pm(9pm Aus), we then were to fly to bankok at 6:15pm(10:15 Aus), but we our delayed to fly out at 8:45pm (12:45 AM Aus), we then will take off at 12:30am (4:30am Aus) and land at london, at 6:30 am England time(5:30pm Aus), we then fly to manchester, we expect to arrive at 8:30am (9:30pm Aus).

4/3/08 - Choeng Mon Beach

This was posted from Koh Samui airport, so I will put photos on later when we arrive in england.

************************************************************************************

Today, we went to the beach, we got ready, called a cab, and left for Choeng Mon Beach. When we got there, we saw that it wasn't a wavy beach, and what we saw was that there were beach chairs all over the beach. We sat down and went for a swim, the first thing i noticed was that the wate was very salty, so salty that you could float on it with ease!

After a while, we decided to dig a hole, and so I made this wonderful systym that alowed water to come into Emilia's hole, extept, by the time it was finished, it was low tide, and we could't get any water.

It was about time for lunch now, and so we went to the resturant behind us.

After lunch we went for another swim.

Later on, I saw a thing for jetski hire, so I hired one for 30 minutes, and took all the kids, and dad, for 10 minute intervals. (Dad came for the whole trip.) It was so fun!!

By that time it was time to leave, so we did and we went home, had a shower, and dinner, and then went to sleep.

3/3/08 - Big Buddha

Sorry for not posting about yesterday, it was like one of the relaxing days, so i thought it wasn't worth posting about.

This was posted from Koh Samui Airport, so I will put photos on later.

Today, we had recovered from and all the joys of flight, rushed days, and whatnot!

So we decided to go and see one of the biggest tourist attractions of Samui, the Big Buddha.

This is a massive statue that was build to worship Buddha. It was giant!

To see it up close, you had to go up 70 stairs.

After we had seen it, we went around the markets, looking at the different things, i brought another tooth, this time i think it was made of shell.

We then went then started to walk down to the beach, when we stopped at the Admiral Lord Nelson, where we had a drink, and then played a few games of pool. We then decided that we would go to the beech tomorrow, and so we called a taxi, and went home.

28/2/08, 29/2/08, 1/3/08 - The relaxation days!

On the 28, we flew to Samui. It took about 1 hour to get there.

When we arrived, we got our bags, then got a taxi to where we were staying, number 1 of the palm villas.
We then settled in, and then we went for a swim in the pool.

We then went to the grocery store, where we had dinner, and then shopped.

On the 29, dad decided that we would just relax today, so all we did was swim, watch TV, and read books, nothing real exiting.

On the 1, we moved villas, we moved to a better villa, that had a private pool!

Wen it came time for dinner, we went down the road to a restaurant, i had a pork soup, and half way through the meal, i realised that i was eating pig intestines. Urk!! I ate everything but the meat after that! We then went home and went to sleep.

27/2/08 - Safari World

Please note, this post just changed when I corected it, I will add more photos, and format it tomorow.

Thanks for reading, Joshua Dowse

Today was our last full day in Bangkok, as we were going to Koh Samui the next morning.

We had a quick breakfast, and then went down stair where our tour guide, Pan, was waiting for us, we hopped on our bus and went to a place called Safari World.

We arrived at the main entrance, and our tour guide told us to go to the toilet, and so on the way, we saw this sign that said the toilets were the best public toilet of the year!

They were pretty cool, they were set up like a jungle!

Any way, we hopped back onto the bus and we went on an African safari, in a man made environment, in Thailand!

First we saw zebras, rhinos, camels, giraffes, deer, buffalo, and many more!

Then we came to the dangerous animal section, we went through two automatic doors, and then we saw a whole heap of……….………… Lions!

Now I've seen heaps of lions at zoos and place like that, but I've never drove next to them, an arms reach out of the window! It was pretty awesome!

We kept on driving till we came to tiger country. We drove past a heap of tiger all relaxing, they were very cool, they were just like your average house cat, except 10 times bigger!

We then drove to a place where they were keeping two lions, and two tigers, and what they were trying to do was breed a liger, or tion, I can't remember?!?!?

After that we passed black bears, and a few more animals that were in the first section. We then drove back to the main entrance and entered the site.

In Safari World, they do lots of shows throughout the day, and our first show was the orangutan show. In this show they trained orangutans to play music, go down flying foxes, and Thai kick box! It was very funny.

The next show was the sea lion show, the sea lions did flips, jumped high in the air, and did tricks.

After the sea lion show, it was time for the bird show, they got birds to take and give back money, add numbers, score soccer goals, and speak in two different languages.

After that, we stopped for a buffet lunch.

After lunch, we saw the dolphin show, in the dolphin show, the dolphins jumped over bars, hula hoped, hit beach balls into the audience, touch balls 3 meters in the air, and break danced. After the dolphins, belugas came out, they sung, and gave one of the trainers a ride.

After the dolphin show, there was the spy wars show, a show filled with special effects, such as exploding chemicals, guns, jet skies and much more.

The last show was the elephant show. In this the elephants danced, shoot darts, and played penalty shoot out.

After they let people sit on at the front of the elephant, and Jakob got to do the whole time, he also got to go on one with no trainer, and got 2 rides around the ring!

By this time it was about 4:10pm, and it was time to leave, so we hopped back into the van and went back to our hotel, where we go ready to move to Koh Samui, had dinner, and went to sleep.
